Sound Design - 40% (One minute)
Students are required to design, record and create a soundtrack for an animation production. Emphasis is to be placed on sound effects and foley, but may incorporate music as a device for cinematic cohesion with visual elements.
Animation Production– 40% (One minute)
Students are to create an animation production for delivery to the appropriate playable delivery format. Emphasis is placed on creating a workflow that efficiently takes the production from animatic to final delivery utilising the appropriate file management processes. Students are to colour grade their work, mastering to the highest quality media outlet.
Research Assignment – 20% (1000 words)
Suggested topic: students discuss the relationship and importance of music and sound in relation to animation and screen productions. This analysis should incorporate technical reasoning as well aesthetic opinions, reinforced by footnoted research.
This assignment may be presented as a hardcopy essay, form of electronic media, or presentation, as negotiated with the relevant teaching staff. Students have the opportunity to negotiate alternative topics where appropriate.
